Wanti: A Modern Typeface for Elegant Web Typography

Choosing Wanti for a Creative Portfolio Redesign

While working on a creative portfolio redesign, I needed a typeface that felt both refined and contemporary. The goal was to elevate the brand’s digital presence with a font that could handle headers, image overlays, and call-to-action sections without compromising readability. I opened up the font preview tool in Figma and dropped in Wanti. Instantly, the layout felt more intentional—clean, expressive, and subtly stylish.

What Makes Wanti Stand Out

Wanti is a Script Amp typeface that blends modern elegance with digital clarity. Its strokes are smooth and flowing, giving it a hand-crafted feel, yet it maintains a level of restraint that keeps it from feeling overly ornate. This balance makes it ideal for digital environments where legibility and aesthetic harmony are equally important.

Testing Wanti in Real Web Layouts

I started by placing Wanti in the hero section of the portfolio homepage. The headline needed to be memorable but not distracting. I used a 48px size with letter spacing set to 0.05em. The result? A strong, inviting title that guided the eye smoothly to the supporting copy beneath it.

Next, I tested Wanti in a mobile view. On smaller screens, script fonts can become hard to read, but Wanti held up well. Even at 24px on a phone screen, the letters remained distinct and easy to scan. This makes it a solid choice for mobile-first design, especially when used in short phrases like headlines or navigation labels.

Where to Use Wanti in Web Design

Wanti works best in display contexts. Here are some of the places it made a strong impact during my project:

  1. Hero Titles – Especially effective when used over a full-width image banner
  2. Logo Text – Adds a touch of sophistication to brand marks
  3. Call-to-Action Buttons – Stands out visually without being overwhelming
  4. Section Headers – Creates visual hierarchy in long-scroll pages
  5. Social Media Graphics – Helps maintain brand consistency across platforms

Readability and User Experience

One of the biggest concerns with script fonts is readability. Wanti avoids the pitfalls of overly decorative typefaces by keeping its baseline consistent and spacing generous. This makes it easier for users to scan and understand, especially in short bursts like headlines or captions.

I also tested Wanti over a dark background with a semi-transparent overlay. It looked crisp and didn’t lose contrast, which is important for accessibility. On light backgrounds, it has a soft warmth that adds personality without straining the eyes.

Font Pairing Tips for Web Designers

Since Wanti is a decorative script, it pairs best with simpler, neutral fonts for body text. During the portfolio project, I combined Wanti with a clean sans serif like Montserrat for paragraph content. The contrast helped establish a visual hierarchy while keeping the overall design cohesive.

For editorial-style layouts, pairing Wanti with a serif font like Merriweather gave the page a more refined, magazine-like feel. The key is to let Wanti shine in the header or accent areas while keeping the rest of the text grounded and easy to read.

Practical Considerations for Using Wanti

Before finalizing the font for the project, I double-checked the webfont availability and licensing. Wanti comes with a commercial license, which made it safe to use across client assets, landing pages, and brand kits. I also verified that it includes multiple weights and supports multilingual characters—an important detail for international brands.

For performance, I made sure to only load the necessary weights and character sets. Since Wanti is a display font, I limited its use to headers and key visual elements, avoiding overuse that could slow down the page load.

When to Choose Wanti Over Other Fonts

Wanti is ideal when you want to add a touch of elegance without sacrificing digital clarity. Compared to more ornate script fonts, Wanti feels modern and versatile. It’s not a handwriting font, so it avoids the casual tone of brush scripts. Instead, it strikes a balance between formal and friendly, making it a great fit for creative businesses, boutique brands, and lifestyle websites.

I found it particularly effective on a coaching website I was designing earlier this year. The client wanted a font that felt approachable yet professional—Wanti achieved that perfectly in the hero section and testimonials block.

Final Thoughts on Wanti for Digital Design

As a web designer, choosing the right typeface can define the tone of a project. Wanti gave my portfolio redesign a refined edge while maintaining usability. Whether used in a landing page headline, a product showcase banner, or a digital brand kit, Wanti delivers a polished, modern aesthetic that works well across devices and screen sizes.

If you're working on a boutique website, a course sales page, or a creative brand identity, Wanti is worth testing. It’s a premium font that feels native to the web—elegant, readable, and adaptable to the needs of modern digital design.
